Your New Normal — What Do You Say Yes To?

Come Follow Me – October 19-25

“And it came to pass in the thirty and sixth year, the people were all converted unto the Lord, upon all the face of the land, both Nephites and Lamanites, and there were no contentions and disputations among them, and every man did deal justly one with another. And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift…. And there were great and marvelous works wrought by the disciples of Jesus, insomuch that they did heal the sick, and raise the dead, and cause the lame to walk, and the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear; and all manner of miracles did they work among the children of men; and in nothing did they work miracles save it were in the name of Jesus.”

Book of Mormon 4th Nephi 1:2-3, 5

The visit of Jesus Christ to the Nephites ushered in a Zion society lasting almost 200 years. There was no contention, murders, robbers, or division of classes in all the land. Too often we feel stress and anxiety because of what is happening in the “world”, rather than focusing on who we are–citizens of The Kingdom of God on earth. As a citizen we have enormous promises give to us.

We live in a glorious age, foreseen by prophets for centuries. This is the dispensation when no spiritual blessing will be withheld from the righteous.

Our New Normal

The challenge for you and me is to make certain that each of us will achieve his or her divine potential. Today we often hear about “a new normal.” If you really want to embrace a new normal, I invite you to turn your heart, mind, and soul increasingly to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let that be your new normal. Embrace your new normal by repenting daily. Seek to be increasingly pure in thought, word, and deed. Minister to others. Keep an eternal perspective. Magnify your callings. And whatever your challenges, my dear brothers and sisters, live each day so that you are more prepared to meet your Maker.

Our future selves live in a Zion society as did the Nephites. Shouldn’t our “New Normal” be based on living the celestial laws foundational to a Zion society?

  • No contentions and disputations
  • Every man deals justly one with another
  • All things common
  • No rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free
  • Partakers of the heavenly gift
  • Great and marvelous works wrought
  • All manner of miracles performed

What do we say yes and no to?

WHAT DO YOU SAY YES TO? WHAT DO YOU SAY NO TO?

“Every second of every day, you’re saying yes to something. Every time you do something, you say yes to that thing. Every time you hop on Facebook and begin scrolling, you’re saying yes. Every piece of food you put in your body, you’re saying yes. Right now, as you read this article, you’re saying yes. When you say yes to anything, you say no to almost everything else. Every choice has an embedded opportunity cost. Every choice is costly. Saying yes isn’t free.Who will you be tomorrow? That depends on what you do today.

Tell Me What You Say Yes to, and I’ll Tell You Who You Are – Dr. Benjamin Hardy

This week chose at least one thing to say yes (or no) to based on viewing yourself as a citizen of a Zion society.
