What Are You Being Prepared For?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to prepare you mind to receive personal revelation. When you do, you can expect miracles in your life!
If we think we’ve had exciting General Conferences, compare it to the General Conference of A.D. 39 in Bountiful. This is a sample of what occurred during their first session.
- Each person personally met Jesus Christ
- Jesus organized the church by calling and giving priesthood keys to 12 disciples
- They were given the “Sermon on the Mount” discourse
- They were given the Beatitudes
- Jesus personally taught them how to pray using the Lord’s Prayer as a template
- He announced the Law of Moses has been fulfilled
- Jesus prayed for them and healed all of their sick
- Angels came down and encircled their children
Jesus then tells them to go and prepare for the second session on the following day.
“I perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto you at this time. Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again.”
Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 17:3
I LOVE scripture chains. By following the references for “prepare” in the verse above, you get a richer understanding of what is being taught and how it applies to you. Following these references we can see what we are being prepared for.
“Wherefore the decree hath gone forth from the Father that they shall be gathered in unto one place upon the face of this land, to prepare their hearts and be prepared in all things against the day when tribulation and desolation are sent forth upon the wicked.”
Doctrine & Covenants 29:8
“For if you will that I give unto you a place in the celestial world, you must prepare yourselves by doing the things which I have commanded you and required of you.”

What will you be taught this General Conference? Will you be prepared to “Hear Him” through the prepared talks? Do you you have a problem or a question you would like to receive guidance on or have answered in this conference?
It is exciting to hear of changes, and announcements of new temples, but the only change that really matters, is the change we make to align ourselves with His will. He knows what is coming in our lives and He will prepare us for whatever comes our way.

I never thought about the first conference before. That was amazing. Maybe this upcoming conference will be just as amazing to future generations as that was to us. I will strive to listen and understand harder than ever before.
